My Story

As a painter sketch and craft artist, my work is inspired by  everyday scenes, people, and nature. I use gestural,  freehand drawing techniques with various media such as  pen, pencil, and watercolour to create dynamic and  expressive works. I create tapestries, sculptures and ceramic  pieces. 

My art is a reflection of the world around me, and I strive to  capture the beauty and complexity of the human experience  through my work. Whether I’m sketching a bustling city street  or painting a tranquil landscape, I aim to create art that  engages and connects with the viewer on an emotional level.  Through my art, I hope to inspire and uplift others, and to  provide a glimpse into the world as I see it.  

Maruta O’Donnell, originally from Latvia , but living and working in Kilkenny, Ireland, nearly for twenty years. Im married to a very nice Irishman. My artistic statement is a reflection of my passion for flowers, creativity and my journey
of self-discovery. With 30 years of experience in the flower business and 20 years in Kilkenny, I have honed my skills in creating stunning wedding flower arrangements and
event displays.
However, my lifelong love for painting and drawing has always been a constant in my life, and it was this that led me to study tapestry at Grennan Mill Craft School.
